Evergreen College is a Canadian private career college that offers diploma and certificate programs in healthcare, technology, college English preparation, business, community work, and hospitality. Evergreen College's accelerated programs combine in-class learning and theory with practical learning through field and co-op placements. Both Canadian and international students benefit from the college's small class sizes, experienced instructors, and various career services.

Evergreen College has campuses in and around the Greater Toronto Area (downtown Toronto, Scarborough, Mississauga, Brampton, Markham, and Oakville) and in Calgary, Alberta.

History

Evergreen College was established in 2003 as a career college, with its first campus in Toronto, Ontario. Today, Evergreen College has seven campuses in total. The Ontario campuses are conveniently located in downtown Toronto, Mississauga, Markham, Scarborough, Oakville, and Brampton. The Alberta campus is located in Calgary.

Evergreen College's motto is "Preparing Professionals for the Real World," and the school has always remained true to this by welcoming both Canadians and international students, placing an emphasis on real world experience through field placements, providing modern technology and resources in all of their facilities, and keeping up with current industry trends in each program's curriculum.

Accreditation

Evergreen College is registered as a private career college under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005. Evergreen College is also a member of the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC) and Career Colleges Ontario (CCO). Campuses

Evergreen College offers a wide variety of career services and other helpful resources for students at all of its campuses. Advisers work closely with students to help with program selections and financial assistance options. Each campus offers different combinations of diploma and certificate programs in business, technology, health care, community work, and hospitality. Certain programs include weekend and evening class options in the hopes of catering to students' varied schedules.

Brampton Campus

Evergreen College's Brampton campus is conveniently located at 239 Queen Street East (#22) with easy access to Brampton Transit bus routes and Highways 410 and 407. This campus also features student parking and wheelchair accessibility.

Evergreen College's downtown Toronto campus is located in the heart of Toronto's Financial District at 67 Yonge Street (Suite 402). This central location within the famous Trader's Bank Building, is steps away from TTC subway and streetcar lines.

Evergreen College's downtown Toronto campus is especially beneficial for business administration, accounting, and legal assistant students given its location in the heart of the city's financial district. Despite the big city surrounding it, Evergreen College offers small class sizes, and one-on-one time between instructors and students to optimize their learning. Students in a variety of the school's programs participate in co-ops or field placements allowing them to gain work experience in their desired fields. Evergreen College's Mississauga campus is located at 1140 Burnhamthorpe Road West (Suite 201). Students parking is available, and the campus is located about 15 minutes from Highway 401. For students using public transit, the Mississauga campus is steps away from the Erindale GO station and Mississauga Transit stops.

Like all of its other campuses, Evergreen College's Mississauga campus offer the latest technology and up-to-date software training to optimize learning.

Oakville Campus

Evergreen College's Oakville campus is located at 165 Cross Avenue (Suite 102). The campus is near both Oakville Transit and GO Transit stations. Queen Elizabeth Way is a short drive away, and student parking is available. The Oakville campus is also wheelchair accessible.

Opened in 2014, Evergreen College's Calgary campus is located at 1-3516-26 Street Northeast. Students can easily commute to campus on the LRT (to Calgary Transit Whitehorn Station). The college shuttle offers service between the Whitehorn LRT stations and campus.

Students are given a variety of financial options and are connected to Student Aid Alberta through the college. In accordance with Evergreen College's focus on getting students job ready, the campus also offers career services.

Community Impact

Evergreen College works with the Centre for Newcomers in Calgary, in order to help international students gain Canadian work experience and career skills. Evergreen College Calgary encourages international students to enroll in their career-focused programs in order to help them ease into life and work in Calgary, thus positively impacting the immigrant community and the community as a whole. Additionally, Evergreen allows various groups within the community (including the Amiga Users of Calgary) to use the campus as a meeting and event space.

Programs

Business Administration in International Trading

The Business Administration in International Trading Diploma Program is 71 weeks at Evergreen College's Ontario campuses and 65 weeks at the Calgary campus. The program includes a 200 hour field placement, 11 classroom modules, and teaches students about essential topics including finance, marketing, technology in business, and business planning.

College English Preparation

This program focuses on helping students to improve their English language skills, and providing newcomers with English communication skills for the professional world. Evergreen's College English Preparation Program is offered at all campuses.

Community Service Worker

The Community Service Worker Diploma Program at Evergreen College is 55 weeks long at all Ontario campuses, and 43 weeks long in Alberta. During this time students learn how to work with diverse communities and individuals, acquire foundational and practical knowledge regarding sociology, counseling, and psychology, and complete a 200 hour field placement. Community service workers go on to careers as counselors at mental health care centres, youth facilities, halfway houses, and other social work organizations.

Computer System and Network Specialist

This program is 33 weeks long and is designed for students who want to start careers in the computer and technology industry. The most common jobs for graduates include data centre operator, network administrator and technician, system administrator and technician, and LAN administrator and technician.

Students also learn how to troubleshoot PC problems, design, install, manage, and enhance computer networks. This program offers the following certifications: Microsoft Certified Solutions, Expert Associate (MCSE/ MCSA), CompTIA A+ Certification, and Cisco Certified Network Associate - Routing & Switching (CCNA).

Computerized Accounting and Payroll Specialist

This 43 week program offers practical training (through a 200 hour field placement) and classroom training including PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) certification from the Canadian Payroll Association. Students will be able to go on to more advanced positions in the financial industry if they choose. Instructors have years of experience in the industry and train students on the latest software in Evergreen College's state-of-the-art labs.

Developmental Service Worker

Evergreen College's Developmental Service Worker Diploma Program is 1 academic year/ 56 weeks long. Graduates of this program help people of all ages who have developmental disabilities by creating safe environments, promoting healthy lifestyles, and assisting them with creating and maintaining positive relationships. Students learn about mental health and addiction, harm reduction, crisis intervention, basic nursing and pharmacology, and how to help patients with developmental disabilities. After graduation, students go on to careers as educational assistants, family support workers, residential counsellors, special needs workers, and more.

Digital Marketing Fundamentals

This 39 hour program is designed for students who are interested in entry-level careers in marketing. The program focuses on digital marketing fundamentals and basics including branding, analytics, online marketing, and budgeting. Graduates enter the job market with up-to-date marketing skills, and knowledge of current and practical digital marketing strategies.

Education Assistant

Evergreen's 38 week Education Assistant Diploma Program helps students wishing to enter the growing field of child education. The program includes a well-rounded field co-op, which gives students hands-on experience (working with infants/ toddlers as well as preschoolers) before entering the job market. The curriculum covers foundational skills and subjects such as prenatal, infant, and child development, nutrition, and curriculum planning. Graduates earn an Evergreen College Diploma and certifications in First Aid and CPR.

Health Care Aide

The 22 week Health Care Aide Program is offered at Evergreen College Alberta. The program is designed to train students for careers as health care professionals and adult caregivers. Students focus on caring for the elderly, earn an Evergreen College Diploma, and complete 200 hours of clinical practice before entering the job market. Graduates go on to work in hospitals, adult day cares, group homes, retirement homes, and more. Their jobs involve assisting patients with mobility, feeding, administering medication, and helping them to recover.

Hospitality Management

This 88 week program provides students with foundational skills and field placement experience for careers in hospitality management. Over the course of the program students earn their Smart Serve and undergo food safety training. The program includes courses in front office management, guest interaction, management theory, hotel and restaurant accounting, hospitality sales and marketing, and more. This training prepares students for careers in hotels, luxury spas, resorts, and other service establishments. Students graduate with an Evergreen College Diploma and AHLA (American Hotel Lodging Association) Hospitality Operations Certificate.

Hospitality Operations

Evergreen College's 52-week Hospitality Operations Diploma Program prepares students for a variety of entry-level careers in the hospitality industry with courses covering foundational skills and other up-to-date industry knowledge, as well as a 480 hour field placement. Completion of the Hospitality Operations Program allows students to advance and pursue a diploma in hospitality management and reduces the two year program to just one additional year.

Legal Assistant

The Legal Assistant Diploma Program at Evergreen College is 47 weeks long. It covers essential legal knowledge including legal terminology, corporate and business law, real estate law, legal transcription, necessary computer skills, and more. Graduates of this program go on to work for law offices, courts, government agencies, real estate companies, and more.

Oil & Gas Administration

Evergreen College's Oil and Gas Administration program is offered exclusively at its Alberta campus. This 43 week program includes a 100 hour field placement, and gives students all of the necessary foundational skills for administrative work in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on strong administrative, software, clerical, business communication, and computer skills. Students also learn about industry terminology, land law, geology, and drilling.

Graduates of this program work as administrative support personnel, oil and gas administrators, executive assistants, information clerks, and clerical assistants.

Personal Support Worker

Evergreen College's Personal Support Worker Certificate Program is one academic year/ 31 weeks long. This 14 module course teaches students the skills needed to create and maintain a safe environment for clients of all ages including. Students will learn about mental health, cognitive disorders, and brain injuries as well as personal support work foundations, and how to assist clients with medication. The program also includes employment readiness workshops, a NACC (National Association of Career Colleges) exam review, and 310 placement hours (200 hours of clinical practice in a long term care facility and 110 hours in a community setting). Graduates go on to work in retirement homes, group homes, adult day programs, hospitals, and long-term care facilities.

Pharmacy Assistant

This 1 academic year/ 46 week diploma program prepares students for the growing health care industry. Students learn how to dispense prescriptions, prepare compounds, principles of aseptic, processing, inventory control, purchasing and merchandising, narcotics control, computer processing, and interpersonal skills.

Pre-Medical

Evergreen College's Pre-Medical Program is a 45-week intensive program is designed for students looking to enter medical related professions. Over the course of one academic year, students will gain lab and research skills, learn about global health care perspectives, and become familiar with various types of advocacy and leadership.

Upon completion students will have a solid foundation in medical science, and the necessary skills and knowledge to take the MCAT and USMLE tests and continue on to more advanced studies with Evergreen College's partner universities.

Process Piping Drafting

Evergreen College's Process Drafting Diploma Program is offered at the Alberta campus. This 42 week long course covers CADD and other useful software, administrative skills, business communication skills, and more. Students also learn about oil sands, petroleum refining, petrochemicals, and more, and gain work experience through a 160 hour field placement.

Social Media Marketing Strategies

Evergreen College's Social Media Marketing Strategies Certificate Course is 39 hours long. The course covers various social media platforms, social media marketing, and teaches students how to use different platforms effectively in the marketing industry.

Unit Clerk and Medical Office Administration

The 34 week Unit Clerk and Medical Office Administration Diploma Program is designed for students seeking work in health care administration. In addition to a 200 hour field placement, the program covers medical terminology, transcription, office procedures, and health care software and applications. Students also learn transferable skills like business, technology, and communications skills. By the end of the program students are able to schedule patient appointments, explain treatment procedures, prepare invoices, medical records, submit billing to Alberta Health Services, and more.
